Dubai airport drone attack

A drone attack near Dubai International Airport (DXB) triggered a fire on Monday, forcing authorities to suspend flights temporarily. No injuries were reported, and the blaze was quickly contained.

Officials confirmed that one of the airport’s fuel tanks was struck during the drone incident. The Dubai Media Office posted an official statement on X. Emergency crews responded immediately to control the situation.

Following the incident, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority temporarily suspended flights to ensure passenger and staff safety. Some flights were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) about 20 miles from Dubai.

Police also halted traffic on roads and tunnels connecting to the airport. Authorities did not specify when normal flight operations would resume. The safety of travelers remains the top priority.

Emirates airline announced a temporary suspension of all flights to and from Dubai. Passengers were advised not to travel to the airport and to check with airlines for updates.

This marks the third drone-related incident near Dubai International Airport since Iran began attacks on Gulf countries on February 28. Previous incidents on March 11 and earlier had already damaged airport facilities.

The ongoing US–Israel–Iran conflict has disrupted global aviation. Middle East airspace closures and repeated missile and drone attacks have canceled and rerouted flights. Saudi Arabia also intercepted about 34 drones entering its eastern region on Monday.
